2015 Eastern Shore Classic
Hot,
hot, hot, was the word for the weekend, but it is July, you know. So what do you expect in Maryland. The action started
Friday evening with Doubles. There were three 99s by Mike Stasio, Sam Armstrong and Mark Gay. Stasio prevailed in the
shootoff. Armstrong was AA1; Ed John was A1; Brian Vess B1; Marvin Coppage C1 and Randy Horsley D1.The 12 Ga. event
saw the action heat up with 5 100s. Stasio prevailed again with Mark Gay taking AA1; Ben Galioto A1; Ed Shifflett B1; Larry
Patrusevich C1; Joe Weinbrecht D1 and Joe (Zeke) McComas E1. Carl Heckert acquired his first 50 straight in the event
and avoided having his hat shot and the obligatory photo op. (Something about the witness protection program, I think.)Things
settled down somewhat in the 28 Ga. with Sam Armstrong shooting the only perfect round. Larry Seward took AA1; Ben Galioto
A1; Gary Nace B1; Dave Collins C1; and Charles Brooks D1.After dinner prepared by Chef Larry Seward, Jeff Fleischut announced
his retirement from the position of Skeet Director. Jeff has held this position since DFGA moved to its current location
17 years ago. During that time he has run over 50 registered shoots including State and Zone shoots. He thanked
the shooters for their support over the years. Jeff's equipment maintenance and organizational skills will be sorely
missed. On Sunday morning, Sam Armstrong kept the lid on things in the 20 Ga. again having the only 100. Alessandro Vitale
captured AA1; Paul Billings A1; Jay Taylor B1; Randy Horsley C1; and Nick Zummo D1.Naturally, a very slight breeze finally
showed up with the .410 bore. But it wasn't enough to cool off either the temperatures or the shooters. Squad mates Larry
Seward and Sam Armstrong both "got ‘em all". This time, Larry came out on top and Sam took the AA1;
Larry Patrusevich was A1; Bill Walmsley was B1; Ed Shifflett C1; and Randy Horsley D1.The HOA went to Sam Armstrong with the
always respectable 398. Larry Seward was AA1; Bill Walmsley A1; Ed Shifflett B1; Larry Patrusevich C; Joe Weinbrecht D1; and
Nick Zummo was E1.
